Carlos Machahua is a PMP-certified translational biomedical scientist and R&D project professional based in Bern. His expertise lies in Respiratory Medicine, particularly lung fibrosis, regeneration, biomarker research, and the evaluation of potential therapeutic approaches.

During his academic career in Barcelona and Bern, Carlos worked across fundamental, preclinical, translational, and clinical research, combining scientific investigation with the structured coordination of multidisciplinary projects. Most recently, as a Postdoctoral Scientist at Inselspital–University of Bern, he coordinated six research projects involving interstitial lung disease and COVID-19.

His responsibilities extended across the project lifecycle, from defining objectives, scope, milestones, timelines, resource requirements, and risks to coordinating laboratory teams, clinicians, biobanks, external research providers, industry sponsors, and international collaborators. Carlos also supported budget planning, monitored deliverables, maintained project documentation, and communicated results to scientific and funding stakeholders.

After completing his postdoctoral position, Carlos saw this transition period as an opportunity to prepare for his next professional challenge. Committed to continuous learning, he used the time to build on his previous project experience, broaden his understanding of project management, strengthen his business perspective, and formalise these capabilities by obtaining his Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification.

After receiving the welcome email from the PMI Switzerland Chapter, Carlos saw the “Introduce Yourself to Our Community” initiative as a valuable opportunity to introduce himself. Joining PMI Switzerland was a natural next step for him to continue learning, connect with the local project management community, and become more involved in Chapter activities.

In his free time, Carlos enjoys hiking, especially during spring and autumn, when Switzerland is at its best for exploring the outdoors. He also likes working out and staying active. In summer, he is drawn to water sports and, of course, swimming in the Aare. Carlos enjoys sharing dinners and board-game nights with friends, while also making time to improve his German through regular classes and practice.

Carlos would be particularly pleased to connect with professionals working at the intersection of science, healthcare, and project management. He also looks forward to exchanging experiences with other members and contributing to Chapter activities where his background in research, international collaboration, and life-sciences project coordination may be valuable.

Mario Mazurek is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and communicates fluently in English and German. Mario highly values the ability to lead influential projects and drive better business outcomes. He holds a university degree in Civil Engineering, and his work is consistently committed to balancing technology and leadership.

Mario is currently planning to relocate to Switzerland and is actively looking for new job opportunities. Therefore, he would like to meet and connect with professionals who are interested in exchanging ideas about project management, supporting current market demands, and exploring possible mutual cooperation.

Having worked in Austria, Mario brings over a decade of international experience across three industry domains. He has experience in logistics automation, where he led the establishment of fully operational maintenance teams across Europe, coordinated projects, and ensured smooth customer operations. In addition, he worked as a global mining systems proposals manager, preparing technical documentation and pricing for large stockyard material handling and mineral processing machines in the global market. Mario also has experience managing digital solutions projects developed for tunnelling machines and equipment used worldwide for the mechanical cutting of minerals and ore deposits, as well as for roadway development. Across all roles, Mario has demonstrated team leadership, customer-facing communication, technical capability, and international cross-functional collaboration.

Mario joined the PMI Switzerland Chapter to continue contributing to and developing in project management, exchanging best practices, and expanding his network within an international and multidisciplinary community. He is interested in further cultivating future-ready skills in project management, AI, technology, and leadership, and would welcome the opportunity to connect with professionals working in those areas.

Brad Currier holds a PhD in muscle physiology and works as the Manager of Clinical Trials at Amazentis SA (Timeline®), a life science company based in Lausanne, where he manages the company's clinical research program.

Brad moved to Switzerland from Canada in January 2025. He completed his PMP® to pair his rigorous scientific background with global project management standards, allowing him to more efficiently execute complex initiatives and support Timeline's continued growth.

Outside of work, Brad enjoys spending time in the mountains, around the lake, and golfing.

Elias Hedjaz is an Organizational Design and Organizational Behavior expert based in the Geneva/Nyon area, with more than 15 years of experience across consulting, HR transformation, organizational development, and project management. His work focuses on helping organizations bring structure, clarity, and impact to complex people and business transformation initiatives.

Elias recently obtained his PMP certification, which felt like a natural step in his professional journey. He joined PMI Switzerland to connect with a strong community of project management professionals, continue learning from peers, and contribute to discussions around transformation, leadership, change management, and the human side of project delivery.

Outside of work, Elias enjoys photography, travel, writing, and coaching youth basketball. He is particularly interested in the way people, culture, and systems interact, and how better project leadership can create healthier and more effective organizations.
