Lynn Sorrentino is a program officer for plastics pollution at IUCN, where she manages an SME community, trainings, projects, and is a delegate for the plastics treaty negotiations. In her capacity, she speaks at multiple international events on the topic.

Lynn worked for 10 years and Microsoft before moving into conservation. Her 2018 MSc in Marine Environmental Protection was data-heavy, focusing on policy and legal frameworks.

Here we will traverse conservation needs and can use AI, specifically ocean health. Machine learning and computer vision can predict pollution sources, monitor waste in real time with drones and satellites, precisely, in real-time, and in zones previously inaccessible.

These insights enable cleanup and inform prevention policies/actions, enhance waste management (collection, recycling, production).
