Jim’s professional journey began in the field of education, and his passion for learning and development has remained a constant throughout his career. He started by teaching in classrooms across the UK before joining EF Education First, where he spent five years honing his skills—first as a teacher, and later as a Quality Assurance and Training Manager.
During his time at EF, Jim led impactful projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and enhancing the onboarding experience for new teachers. He played a key role in streamlining the handling of customer complaints and preparing hundreds of educators for a major system transition. His contributions also included developing training materials and organizing professional development events. In addition to his core responsibilities, Jim served as a Diversity, Equity, and Belonging Ambassador, reflecting his commitment to inclusive and supportive work environments.
Now, Jim is pursuing the next chapter of his career in project management, building on his strong foundation in training and change management. He is complementing his practical experience with formal qualifications and is currently preparing for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) exam, with plans to pursue the PMP® certification. His decision to join the PMI Switzerland Chapter stems from a desire to connect with professionals who are equally passionate about driving meaningful change within organizations and society at large.
Outside of work, Jim thrives on creativity. He has performed at the renowned Edinburgh Fringe comedy festival and he runs Dungeons & Dragons sessions professionally for children. Whether on stage or around a gaming table, he embraces opportunities to think outside the box and solve problems in imaginative ways.
