The PMI CH Chapter hosted an event on Emotional Intelligence, a lecture delivered by Marina Reidi - who combines 11 year experience as a project manager with her passion for public speaking and fascination about the topic of emotional intelligence.
A huge crowd turned out for the event since the nature of the topic, everybody was intending to get the benefit of the tips and techniques of how to better manage the emotions thyself and people around, Marina defined Emotional Inteligence (EI) as "our ability to recognize and understand emotions in us and in others, and the ability to manage our behaviour and relationships using this awareness". She presented framework designed to assess the Emotional Intelligence Quotient based on the well-known model designed by Daniel Goleman, integrating the Emotional Competency Inventory (ECI), created in 1999, and the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory (ESCI), created in 2007
Marina also presented the Bar-on EQ-I model, mainly referring to the following areas:
- Decision Making
- Stress Management
Both models converge into the EI Assessment EQ-I 2.0, an online test used to assess EI, offering both impact and strategies for action. This report is used by Emotional Intelligence Coaches to detected behavioural patterns, enabling then to develop strategies to improve emotional intelligence. A short Q&A session followed to conclude the event.
Although the content of the lecture was well organized and presented in a lively and comprehensive manner, the audience felt that some case studies and more real life examples were missing.
