Some people say that projects are either executed in a traditional (plan-driven with a Gantt chart) or Agile (prioritized backlog-driven with a scrum board) way. However, Martin Härri will present how he successfully combined the two approaches for a 20+ million project at SIX. Over 50 people are collaborating in 16 work streams, processing 60+ work packages, 200+ deliverables, and more than 1’000 tasks. All these parameters would predetermine a traditional approach, but in addition to a detailed plan and a Gantt chart, the project is applying Agile practices such as sprints (at the time of the presentation, the project will be in sprint 40), demos and retrospectives. And it is using Jira, a tool usually associated with Agile, but works very well also for plan-driven projects.
Martin will walk us through the entire project cycle, demonstrating where traditional, and where agile practices have been used. And eventually he will also present a great free tool for retrospectives.
