Dear Readers,
As we step into February, PMI Switzerland continues to foster innovation, leadership, and collaboration within our vibrant project management community. This month, we bring you inspiring insights from recent events and celebrate the leaders shaping our chapter’s future.
Exploring Creativity in Project Management On January 15, members experienced a hands-on approach to problem-solving through the LEGO® Serious Play® Workshop in Zürich. Led by Christian Bless, this interactive session demonstrated how creativity and storytelling can enhance teamwork and project success. Participants built more than just structures—they uncovered new perspectives on leadership and collaboration.
Empowering Project Sponsors A successful project requires strong leadership, and the January 14 “Evaluating Your Sponsor” Workshop, led by Eric Fingerhut, tackled a crucial challenge: how to transform sponsors into true project champions. Attendees engaged in real-world case studies, gaining practical tools to assess and enhance sponsor involvement, ultimately improving project outcomes.
Welcoming PMI Switzerland’s Newly Elected Leaders We are pleased to announce the results of our recent elections! Congratulations to our re-elected and newly elected leaders, whose expertise and commitment will drive PMI Switzerland forward in 2025 and beyond.
📅 Save the Date: Annual Membership Meeting – February 27, 2025 Join us for our Annual Membership Meeting on February 27, 2025, where we will reflect on our achievements and discuss the exciting plans ahead. Mark your calendars and be part of shaping the future of PMI Switzerland!

| [Messages from the Boards] | Shaping the PMI Volunteer Spirit We’re All Proud Of |
|
---|
Volunteering stands at the intersection of personal and professional life, creating a unique environment, rich in diversity and experience. We’re all here to make a positive difference, to learn from each other, and to grow together. At the heart of our volunteer community of varied viewpoints, backgrounds and cultures is a shared commitment to professionalism, respect, and teamwork. We embrace thoughtful, respectful, and fact-based dialogue.
Our recent leadership survey shows the importance of a professional and enjoyable space where everyone feels valued and supported. Here are some key focus areas highlighted by the survey respondents:
- A Clear Vision and Strategy: Volunteers want more structured direction and unified goals. Clearer planning can help everyone feel aligned and motivated.
- Transparency and Accountability: Volunteers wish for consistent communication and for one another to follow through on their commitments, which is essential in building trust and reinforcing teamwork.
- Respectful Communication: In their interactions, volunteers expect non-judgmental, fact-based feedback in a way that is constructive and comfortable for all parties.
- Acknowledge, respect, and celebrate people's differences and preferences, so that each volunteer can contribute their best and strengthen our impact as a chapter.
Each of us has a role to play in maintaining the positive culture we all value and ensuring that our community remains welcoming, enjoyable, and constructive for everyone.
If you experience any behavior that is not in line with our values or when in doubt, speak up and contact any member of the Board of Directors starting with the VP for Volunteers, the PMI Switzerland President, or the Chapter Advisory Board. We will listen to you and help you resolve the situation.
Thank you for bringing your passion and energy to this community. Together, let’s continue to make it an inspiring and fulfilling place for everyone.
Your dedicated PMI Swiss Board of Directors and Chapter Advisory Board

On 14th January I had a chance to be a part of the workshop 'Evaluating Your Sponsor: How to Unleash Them into a Project Champion'. The workshop was led by Eric Fingerhut.
As project leaders we are doing our best to make the project meet the targets and help all team members to sing the same tune. But what if the project sponsor is unhelpful or disengaged? This already happened with your project, right? How to address the problem and make such important stakeholder collaborate effectively?
During the workshop Eric gave us multiple tips and a smart tool to be used to improve involvement of the sponsor. Let me share some of the details with you.
