Dear readers and members,

As the sunny days of summer are enveloping us in warmth and radiance, it's the perfect time to infuse our professional lives with the same vibrant energy. The season of leisure and exploration offers a unique opportunity to revitalize our project management strategies and adopt fresh approaches. So, let's embark on a journey that combines the essence of summer with the tenets of project management, unlocking a world of productivity and success.

With the same summer spirit, we are preparing for you the 12th PMI Switzerland Conference, "INNOVATIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Power skills for the future", that will be happening on 18th October, at the Roche building (F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG Areal Kaiseraugst) in Basel. You will find in this issue an article giving you an introduction to the full content, plus the interviews with three speakers so that you get a taste of what’s on the menu!

Moreover, this issue also covers managing blockchain Truffle projects, a PMI Swiss Corporate Networking Group article about Sunrise company, the presentation of an event where we'll dive into the capabilities and limitations of AI, with real-world examples of how it can automate tasks, predict risks, and optimize resources, and incorporating the Disciplined Agile toolkit to plan the project.

Do not miss the early bird registration: discount of 50 CHF until the 5th of September (it will be automatically applied at the registration). Full price (non-members): 449.00 CHF and PMI® Switzerland Chapter Member price: 399.00 CHF - Students (up to 25 years): 120.00 CHF (max 20 tickets).

Summer offers full of inspiration, and when composed into the fabric of project management, it creates a harmonious blend of productivity, creativity, and resilience. As the season unfolds before us, let us embrace the essence of summer and apply its valuable lessons to our projects. By doing so, we can elevate our project management practices to new heights, basking in the warmth of success that only a well-managed project can bring. So, let the summer breeze propel you towards project management excellence, and savor the rewards of the season. As the days grow longer, may your project management expertise shine brighter, illuminating the path to success for your entire team.

‍Message from the Board

Author: Thando Dube, PMP, VP Communications & Brand Development

It is with great pleasure that I write this message in the middle of our summer; the days are longer, sunny and sometimes very hot…I sincerely hope that you and your families, close friends or colleagues are having a relaxing summertime, whether you are at work or at home.

The past 7 months of the year have been exciting and busy for our volunteers. After the excellent organization of Annual Members Meeting (AMM) in Bern in February, we have organized more than 20 events, from our traditional “networking events” to “in-person workshops” with guest speakers. Just to highlight a few achievements, the Sponsors’ team secured new sponsors for the chapter and for the 12th annual conference.

We revived evening networking events in Lucerne and Geneva, respectively.

According to the Volunteers’ and Members’ teams “too much work and no play is not a good combination” so in April, the two teams combined efforts and revived the running event open to all members at the Lausanne 20km run!  Once again, a big thank you to the Chapter volunteers for their commitments and excellent work.

Our Volunteers Day 2023 is scheduled for 2nd of September in Bern. We encourage all our volunteers to register for this free annual event in recognition of the volunteers contributions.

The PMI Swiss Corporate Networking Group (SCNG) is quite a unique organization within PMI, as very few chapters have a formal network which unites not project professionals, but company representatives. The SCNG was created back in 2010 and is bringing together representatives of over 20 organizations based in Switzerland to share best practices and experiences about project management topics of relevance to their companies.
