Alleviation! is how Martin Lauer describes what he felt when he found out that he passed his PMP examination. Martin is German and works in the pharmaceuticals industry. It was the expressed desire of Martin's boss that Martin work on, and obtain, his PMP certification. Until then, Martin had not been aware of the certification.
In order to keep up his PDUs, Martin has plans to attend an event to be trained in PM Leadership and Authority.
Martin says he is glad to be joining our chapter, and would enjoy meeting an expert in Communication Management.

Guillaume Goutaudier first learned of the PMP certification in 2011 while researching project management certifications, and he felt that the PMP would provide good recognition of both his skills as well as his experience as a project manager. Guillaume is an IT Consulting professional from France. He plans to attend events which are pertinent for IT project management and has a particular interest in the Agile certification as a result.
What message do you have for people considering obtaining their PMP?
Just do it! It is worthwhile.
What did you feel when you were taking the exam?
At first I felt a little bit of stress (okay, maybe more than a little bit)! But as I got through the questions, I started to feel relief. After 90 minutes, though, I could also start to feel the tiredness.....
Guillaume is looking forward to networking with peers and the other project management professionals of our chapter.

Sandro Jordão had first heard of the PMP back in 2004, but it was not until two years ago that he decided to pursue getting his own certification. Sandro, a Brazilian IT professional, was looking for an internationally recognized framework with which he could become more efficient in his work and also enhance his career development. It was very exciting, he says, describing the moment when he passed his exam. In particular, Sandro enjoys those topics pertaining to client and stakeholder relationships; defining the business case and scope as well as marketing.
What tip would you give to people preparing for the PMP exam?
Make your own summaries after each book chapter, because this really helps to fix the content in your mind. Also, save a lot of time for the preparation, and be persistent.
Sandro has been a member of PMI-Switzerland for the last two years and plans to become much more active in the community by attending training sessions and volunteering his time in the Suisse Romande.
